Two were injured when shots broke out during a Friday night football game in New Jersey, the Associated Press reports.

The incident took place during the third quarter of a game between Camden and Pleasantville high schools in Pleasantville, New Jersey. Pleasantville players tell CNN that initially, they thought the sounds were fireworks. But after realizing they were gunshots, the athletes ran for cover.

“We just saw everybody from the crowd running,” said Pleasantville senior football player Keon Henry. “Coach was telling us get down but we didn’t want to get down. We wanted to get somewhere safe inside the school, so we all ran up here, ran through the fence and then went through here.”

In captured footage, students and attendees can be seen looking for cover as the shots rang out. Some people hopped over fences or dove behind the bleachers while players, coaches, and referees laid down on the field.
