If Anthony Carbajal is willing to put on a bikini and do the Ice Bucket Challenge, you should be willing to listen to his important message.

The 26-year-old, who was recently diagnosed with ALS, breaks down in tears in this video as he explains the frightening reality of the disease.

Because pharmaceutical companies can’t make money off patients who die two to five years after developing the condition, there is no reason for them to develop a better treatment, he says.

Carbajal says that ALS has been hidden from sight because it’s so painful to watch.

He says,

Nobody wants to see a depressing person that’s dying. They don’t want to talk about it. They don’t want their day ruined. People are getting frustrated about seeing the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge right now and that’s fine, that’s fine. It means our awareness is working.
Take a moment out of your day and watch one man explain what the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge means to him.

Through Carbajal’s eyes, you’ll start to see it differently.
