Bobby_Shmurda_Bail_Withdrawn_-500x331

Earlier today, Bobby Shmurda and Rowdy Rebel appeared in the New York City Supreme Court to finally get news for the first time since being denied their $2 million bail last February. Since their arrest last December, alongside 13 other members of the GS9 street team where police found numerous guns and drug paraphernalia, the collective of 20-somethings have been patiently waiting for any updates in Riker’s Island.

The Brooklyn rappers, learned today that their RICO indictment trial will finally begin June 25th. According to their lawyers Kenneth Montgomery and Javier Solano, all parties involved in the 69-count indictment are looking to plead not guilty on murder, attempted murder, felony drug & gun possession, assault and drug dealing.

During the 11:30am ET hearing this morning, Bobby made little to no eye contact with press and those in attendance, while a more high-spirited Rowdy had a few smiles and mouthed a few words to people on hand.

Before the day concluded, lawyer Montgomery would speak briefly about the upcoming trial saying, “This is a show and [the prosecutors] have to justify the show. At the trial we’ll see what this is really about. What I would want is some reasonableness to take place and that this young man can be given a reasonable bail and get out. But I know what we’re up against. We’re not up against reason. We’re up against the rule of law.”

While the 15 member collective looks to avoid blowing trial this summer, we’ll keep you up to date on any news that surfaces regarding the on-going story before the late June trial begins in Manhattan.
