Is Apple ever going to come out with something innovative other than the newest version of the iPhone? Well it looks like they just may. According to reports in China, Apple’s iWatch is set to launch this upcoming summer.

The iWatch is believed to have a 1.5 inch LED screen, and have the ability to receive and send text messages and emails. It will also be able to communicate to other devices, such as your iPhone, via Bluetooth. Apple is said to be working on adding a speaker and microphone to further enhance the device.

However, this is not the first time companies are trying to create “smartwatches”. Both Microsoft and Sony have tried selling their own versions of smartwatches unsuccessfully. It looks like the only competition that stands a chance against Apple’s iWatch, is the Pebble.

The Pebble E-Paper Watch features a 1.25 inch 144 x 168 monochrome e-paper display with backlight- yes, it’s a paper watch with electronic display. The Pebble comes with pre-installed apps including a cycling app to measure speed, pace, and distance via GPS, as well as a golf range-finder app that supports over 25,000 golf courses.
