We’ve heard of people living in some real dumps in Brooklyn, but never have we heard of a man living in an actual dumpster… until now, that is.

HGTV took to the borough of Biggie Smalls to meet Gregory Kloehn, a California designer who transformed a dumpster into a fully functional home.

Featuring a stove, a bed, insulation, a toilet and even an extendable roof that reveals actual windows, life in the dumpster seems a little less crazy when you actually see it.

“It just hit me,” Kloehn said on HGTV’s show, You Live in What? “I thought, ‘Hey, this is the perfect shape for a home.’”
Kloehn’s home even features a grill and a mini bar — two things most people in normal homes don’t even have!

The whole project took Kloehn six months to build, and he did so utilizing mostly conventional tools.

I’m not saying I’m going to give up traditional living to live in a dumpster, but you have to tip your hat to Kloehn for his creative use of space that provides him with everything he needs in a home.

Brooklyn is no stranger to unusual living arrangements. Need proof? Check out Ninjasonik’s “Daylight Remix” video.
