A season after leading the Harvard basketball team to their first NCAA tournament bid since 1946, senior co-captains Kyle Casey and Brandyn Curry will likely miss the entire 2012-2013 season. The Harvard College administrative board is looking into a widespread academic cheating scandal, in which both Casey and Curry are implicated. Both players are being advices to withdraw for a year to retain their eligibility in the 2013-2014 season.

In an August New York Times article covering the cheating scandal, Harvard’s dean of undergraduate education referred to the scandal as “unprecedented in its scope and magnitude.” Sounds pretty serious.

The Harvard football team is also expected to lose several players allegedly involved in the cheating.
