Japan‘s first condom manufacturer has created the world’s thinnest condoms, measuring even thinner than a human hair at 0.01 millimeters.

According to Kotaku, it took Sagami Rubber Industries 10 years to bring this vision to reality. The set was released after 20,000 condoms were put through a series of tests, which we can imagine consisted of filling them with large amounts of water and having men of all sizes absolutely rail a few lucky girls.

Sagami has been trying to make condoms as thin as possible for years, releasing a 0.02 millimeter rubber in 2005. America‘s thinnest is the Trojan Ultra Thin, measuring roughly 0.06 millimeters.

The 0.01 polyurethane condoms were released in Tokyo two weeks ago, with a box of five currently going for the equivalent of $12. Kotaku reports that they are selling like wildfire, with some shops already out of stock.

“Honestly, I don’t how we can make them thinner than this,” a Sagami researcher told Tokyo Sports, “but as long as there is a need for thinner, we will continue researching 0.009 millimeter and 0.008 millimeter thinness.”
Sagami is also the make of the first colored condom.
