According to reports from ESPN.com, Mixed Martial Artist Kimbo Slice will face James Thompson in a rematch of their infamous EliteXC bout in 2008, in which Slice landed a powerful right hand to Thompson’s cauliflower ear and sending blood flying across the ring, earning what many still say was a controversial TKO victory.

There have been talks of a rematch for years, but both sides were never able to agree to the terms. Luckily Scott Coker and his Bellator banner made the fight happen, as it will be a headliner for Bellator 158, which takes place July 16th at The O2 Arena in London, England.

The location comes as a surprise to many, as the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations recently revealed that Slice tested positive for nandrolone, an anabolic steroid, as well as an elevated testosterone to epitestosterone (T/E) following his fight with Dada 5000 at Bellator 149, which was in Houston on February 19th. Reps for TCS have yet to officially announce the length of Slice’s suspension, but it has been confirmed that there has been a settlement offered, which will reduce the punishment to a $3,000 fine and a license revocation.

Had the fight been booked on U.S. soil, it is quite possible that the state’s athletic commission would have had questions for Slice in regards to his status and Texas and possibly would have even denied his application.

Slice, the internet sensation known for his backyard brawls, goes into the bout with a professional record of 6 wins and 2 losses.
