As part of a new Summer Sides Box being offered in Australia as summer approaches the Southern Hemisphere, McDonald’s has introduced its own interpretation of tater tots, which it calls Hash Brown Bites. This comes hot on the heels of Burger King’s introduction of Cheesy Tots, and translates the ever-popular Hash Brown staple of McDonald’s breakfasts into snackable, bite-sized pieces.

This move also underlines Australia’s continuing status as a test market for McDonald’s, which also piloted Create Your Taste, McCafe and Chicken McBites before they were introduced worldwide. Australia will also see the revitalization of the McCafe concept in 2017 with barista-crafted beverages. For now, you’ll have to fly down south to have a taste of these Golden Arches-branded tater tots — if they prove popular enough, look for the Hash Brown Bites to start appearing at your local McD’s in the near future.
