Later this year, N.W.A fans will get an officially-sanctioned look at the meteoric rise and fall of the iconic rap group thanks to the Dr. Dre- and Ice Cube-produced flick Straight Outta Compton. Taking its name from N.W.A’s seminal debut LP, Straight Outta Compton looks at the dangerous streets of Compton in the mid-’80s as Dre, Ice Cube, Eazy-E, MC Ren, DJ Yella and co. translated their experiences into a brutally honest album that took the rap world by storm, revolutionizing hip-hop and rebelling against authority with an explosive voice that had previously been unheard.

Starring Corey Hawkins, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Jason Mitchell, Aldis Hodge and Neil Brown Jr. as Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, Eazy-E, MC Ren and DJ Yella, respectively, and even depicting the likes of a younger Snoop Dogg, Suge Knight and Warren G, the F. Gary Gray-directed Straight Outta Compton is set to hit theaters August 14.
