Everyone has heard of “beer goggles,” the alcohol-induced affect of the brain that makes ugly people look more attractive.

According to a new study at Durham University, however, “beer goggles” aren’t real. Dr. Amanda Ellison has concluded that while alcohol definitely makes you hornier, it doesn’t make everyone around us look better in our own eyes.

“We still see others basically as they are,” said Dr. Ellison, who claims that our ability to judge attractiveness stays the same no matter how many drinks we’ve had.

“There is no imagined physical transformation – just more desire,” she notes.
Dr. Ellison also noted that alcohol doesn’t specifically affect our sexual desires. It just hinders our decision-making skills as a whole.

“Hangovers are caused by dehydration: the brain shrinks and tugs on the meninges. But before that, alcohol switches off the rational and decision-making areas of the brain while leaving the areas to do with sexual desire relatively intact.”
So we still register ugly people as ugly. We don’t think we’re f*cking an attractive person when that’s not really the case. Instead, we’re just quicker to accept their ugliness to get what our libido wants.
