The University of Central Florida student who committed suicide in his dorm room on Monday was plotting to kill his classmates with explosives and an assault rifle, it was revealed by police today.
James Oliver Seevakumaran was found dead in his dorm room with a handgun, an assault rifle, four IEDs in a backpack, and over 200 rounds of ammunition.
There were also writings which detailed an elaborate plan to attack students.
Police believe Seevakumaran pulled the fire alarm in order to get students out of their rooms and into the open.
Hundreds of students were evacuated from the dorm, and when police were on their way to the scene, a 911 call came in about a man with a gun on campus.
Seevakumaran’s roommate made the call, saying that Seevakumaran came into the room and pointed a gun at him.
According to authorities, Seevakumaran had not yet paid his school fees for this semester, and a process had begun to kick him out of the dorm.
The writings found indicate that Seevakumaran had been planning the attack since February.
