New Balance‘s lifestyle team has been greeted with thunderous applause all-year long for their output of clean-cut GR colorways and striking collaborations with the likes of Salehe Bembury, Jaden Smith, Casablanca and more. Among these releases however, the New Balance 992 has certainly been highlighted the most over the course of 2020, and now it has resurfaced with a plaid makeover.

Visually, these 992s alternate their overlays between dark navy suedes laid along the heels and mid-foot and red-orange leather mudguards/toe tips. However, its most playful design feature is found through the underlays which see red, blue and yellow tartan plaids congregating on the toe box, as well as blue and yellow patchwork patterns which dress up the rear. Extra notes of contrast pop out through the throat’s leather overlays which are given a light beige complexion, in addition to the midsoles which diagonally color-block between neutral shades of white and grey paneling.

If this particular colorway appears slightly familiar to you, it may be because streetwear and footwear retailer Concepts originally launched this makeup as an in-store exclusive to celebrate the recent opening of their newest Boston flagship towards the tail end of October 2020.

For dad shoe lovers interested in copping, note that this pair is now available for purchase at select retailers like Foot District for €240 (approx. $285).
