We all know that the NBA consists of millionaire players working for billionaires, so their spending habits are a bit extra. But how much does the typical NBA player spend per month?

Kathleen Pender of the SF Chronicle revealed a study that aimed to find out what the spending habits of an NBA players are, using an online mobile spending tracking tool. Over 50 players from different age groups participated in the study for four months, which tracked spending categories like food, clothing, shoes, and entertainment.

The results show that players spend approximately $42K per month or around $504K per year. Here is the breakdown:

Clothing/shoes: 11 percent
Automotive: 9 percent
Travel: 8 percent
Restaurants: 7 percent
Charitable giving: 7 percent
Entertainment: 6 percent
Personal Care: 5 percent
Electronics: 3 percent
Service Charges/fees: 5 percent
Other: 39 percent
Pender also shared the following:

Their top merchants were Express (which signed Stephen Curry as a “brand ambassador” in late 2014), Whole Foods Market, ESPN, Neiman Marcus, Delta Air Lines, Louis Vuitton, American Airlines, Apple, Walmart, Mercedes-Benz’s finance arm, Target and Best Buy. (Express said Tuesday its contract with Curry expired in December 2015.)

So when you spot your favorite player pulling up to Walmart in a Mercedes rocking some Louis Vuitton’s and an Apple watch, you will know why.
