As you’ve probably heard by now, Kendrick Lamar shook up the hip-hop world when he crowned himself the “King of New York” on Big Sean’s “Control” single featuring Kendrick Lamar and Jay Electronica. Twitter has been buzzing with fans and fellow rappers commenting on his extremely bold claim, and hilarious #kendrick and #kendricklamar memes have been popping up everywhere on Instagram.

Things should certainly get very interesting if some true native New York rappers respond to his hard verse. This could spark a classic non-violent lyrical feud between the East and West Coast and bring the best out of any rapper willing to participate in the battle for “King of New York” and ultimately “King of the Lyricists”.
